Cranbury’s affordable housing plan has gone through significant changes, including a move away from the previously proposed Henry Farm property.
In this clip from The Wilton Report, Cranbury’s mayor explains the search for alternative locations and discusses 1274 South River Road, one of the sites incorporated into the Township’s affordable housing strategy.
The project at 1274 South River Road has been approved for 60 affordable housing units. Township documents describe the development as senior and supportive housing, with plans for 55 senior units and five supportive-housing units.
The mayor also discusses why senior housing changes the conversation around local infrastructure and school enrollment compared with traditional family housing.
Cranbury’s amended housing plan also identifies 1260 South River Road for a separate 130-unit affordable family rental development, while 1274 South River Road is designated for the 60-unit senior/special-needs project.
Watch the Short above to hear the mayor explain how Cranbury arrived at the alternative sites and where the Township’s affordable housing plans are heading.
