What Actually Happened With the Cranbury Farm? Mayor Explains the Affordable Housing Debate

The debate over Cranbury’s affordable housing plan became especially focused on the Henry Farm property at 1234 South River Road.

In this clip from The Wilton Report, Cranbury Mayor Lisa Knierim explains her view of what happened behind the scenes. She describes residents writing letters, township representatives testifying, and efforts to change the language of the plan so Cranbury could move away from using the farm.

According to Cranbury’s 2026 Housing Element and Fair Share Plan amendment, the Henry Farm site was ultimately removed and replaced with 1260 South River Road, where the township proposed a 100% affordable family rental development.

The mayor also addresses the debate over who deserves credit for the change, arguing that the Township Committee had been actively working toward the same outcome.
